An Aviation Loader plays a crucial role in the efficient and safe loading and unloading of cargo and baggage onto aircraft. This position involves handling, organizing, and securing various items to ensure they are correctly loaded and distributed within the aircraft’s designated compartments.
Aviation Loader Job Responsibilities:
Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload cargo, baggage, and other items onto and from the aircraft, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
Weight Distribution: Ensure proper weight distribution of cargo and baggage within the aircraft to maintain balance and stability during flight.
Equipment Operation: Operate specialized equipment such as conveyor belts, loaders, forklifts, and other machinery required for cargo handling and transportation.
Cargo Organization: Arrange and organize cargo and baggage efficiently to maximize space utilization within the aircraft’s cargo compartments.
Security and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all security protocols and safety regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials and compliance with airline and aviation industry guidelines.
Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of loaded/unloaded items, keeping track of quantities, types, and destinations for efficient cargo management
Communication: Communicate effectively with the aircraft crew, ground staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and compliance with loading instructions.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure functionality and report any issues promptly for timely repairs.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, including evacuation procedures and providing assistance during unusual circumstances.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with a diverse team of ground crew and follow a cooperative approach to achieve operational goals.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Previous experience in cargo handling, aviation, or a related field is advantageous.
- Ability to operate and handle various types of equipment and machinery used in cargo loading and unloading.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
