Hotel Receptionist Job Description:
As a Hotel Receptionist, your main responsibility is to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel’s front desk. You will be the first point of contact for guests and visitors, providing excellent customer service and creating a positive first impression of the hotel.

Hotel Receptionist Job Responsibilities:
Guest Check-In and Check-Out: Greet guests upon arrival, verify their reservation details, and assist with the check-in process. Provide necessary information about the hotel facilities, services, and local attractions. Handle guest departures by processing check-outs, collecting payments, and resolving any billing discrepancies.
Reservations and Bookings: Handle guest inquiries and reservations via phone, email, or in person. Maintain an updated reservation system and ensure accuracy of guest information. Assist guests with changes or cancellations to their reservations as required.
Front Desk Operations: Maintain a neat and organized front desk area. Manage the distribution of room keys and other access cards. Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and redirect calls to appropriate departments or staff members. Handle guest requests and complaints promptly and professionally.
Concierge Services: Provide information and assistance to guests regarding local attractions, restaurants, transportation, and other services. Make recommendations and arrangements for dining reservations, tours, transportation, and other guest requests.
Cash Handling: Handle cash, credit card transactions, and maintain accurate records of guest charges and payments. Balance cash drawers and report any discrepancies to the management.
Administrative Tasks: Perform general administrative duties such as sorting mail, handling guest messages, and ensuring the accuracy of guest accounts. Maintain guest records and update relevant information in the hotel’s computer systems.
Safety and Security: Monitor the hotel lobby and public areas to ensure the safety and security of guests. Adhere to established security protocols and report any suspicious activities or incidents to the appropriate authorities.
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other hotel departments, including housekeeping, maintenance, and food and beverage, to coordinate guest requests, resolve issues, and ensure a seamless guest experience.
Hotel Receptionist Job Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional education in hospitality or related field is a plus)
- Proven experience in a customer service or front desk role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in using hotel management software and computer systems
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
