Heavy Truck Driver Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and responsible Heavy Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of safe and efficient driving, as well as a deep understanding of commercial driving regulations. As a Heavy Truck Driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods and materials using large trucks, ensuring timely deliveries, and adhering to all traffic and safety regulations.

Heavy Truck Driver Job Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain heavy trucks for the transportation of goods and materials over short and long distances.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring that it is properly secured and distributed for safe transport.
- Plan routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules while considering factors like road conditions, traffic, and regulations.
- Adhere to all relevant traffic laws and regulations, both local and federal, to ensure safe and legal driving practices.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to identify any maintenance or safety issues. Report any defects or problems to the appropriate department.
- Monitor vehicle performance, including fuel consumption, mileage, and mechanical issues, and perform basic maintenance tasks such as refueling and checking oil levels.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members to provide updates on delivery progress and address any issues or changes.
- Keep accurate records of hours worked, miles driven, and cargo delivered, as required by company policies and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck interior and exterior, promoting a professional image at all times.
- Follow company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, security, and equipment usage.
- Handle paperwork such as bills of lading, delivery receipts, and other required documentation accurately and efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicle being operated.
- Proven experience as a heavy truck driver, with a clean driving record.
- Strong knowledge of federal and local transportation regulations and laws.
- Excellent understanding of road safety and traffic rules.
- Ability to operate and navigate GPS and other navigation tools effectively.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Physical ability to load and unload cargo, including lifting and securing heavy items.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Flexibility in work schedule, as some routes may require overnight stays.
Working Conditions:
Heavy Truck Drivers often work long hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet delivery schedules. They may spend extended periods away from home, particularly for long-haul routes. The work environment can vary greatly depending on the type of cargo being transported and the geographical area covered.
