Road Maintenance Worker Job Description:
As a Road Maintenance Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of roadways and related infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to perform a variety of tasks to maintain and repair roads, highways, and other transportation routes. This physically demanding position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Road Maintenance Worker Job Responsibilities:
Road Repairs: Conduct regular inspections of roadways to identify and address any signs of damage, such as potholes, cracks, and erosion. Perform repairs using appropriate materials and tools to ensure the road’s structural integrity and safety.
Pothole Patching: Fill potholes with suitable materials, such as asphalt or concrete, and compact them to prevent further deterioration and potential hazards to drivers.
Road Markings and Signage: Assist in painting and repainting road markings, lane dividers, crosswalks, and other necessary traffic signs for improved visibility and traffic management.
Vegetation Control: Remove debris, vegetation, and obstructions from roadways to maintain clear visibility and prevent potential road hazards.
Snow and Ice Removal: During winter months, be part of snowplowing and de-icing operations to keep roads clear and safe for drivers.
Culvert Maintenance: Inspect and maintain culverts, drainage systems, and ditches to ensure proper water flow and prevent road flooding or erosion.
Equipment Operation: Operate various machinery and equipment, such as dump trucks, loaders, graders, and power tools, safely and efficiently.
Worksite Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to protect yourself, team members, and the general public while working on road maintenance projects.
Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and lubricating equipment, to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
Reporting: Document work activities, materials used, and equipment maintenance in logs and reports.
Road Maintenance Worker Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools used in road maintenance.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to road maintenance activities.
